Exciting Changes at Walks 'N' Wags!

For the past 10 years we have offered Dog walking and Pet Sitting for cats and other small animals on Vancouver’s West Side. Additionally, we offer private Dog Training and a National Pet First Aid Course for dogs and cats.

We are pleased to announce that recently we made the decision to transfer our local Dog Walking and Pet Sitting services to our longterm Operations Manager Vanessa Johne.

Walks ‘N’ Wags Pet Care will continue to accept new clients and offer dog walking and cat sitting locally until December 31, 2010. After this time, Walks ‘N’ Wags will still be in operation; however, we will only offer private Dog Training in Vancouver and Pet First Aid Courses across the country.

This means, that as of January 1, 2011, Vanessa will continue to offer our clients group and private dog walking as well as cat sitting services on Vancouver’s West Side under the new name of Best Friends Pet Care. The transition to Best Friends Pet Care will be seamless as Vanessa already currently manages the Walks ‘N’ Wags’ services.

We hope that you will check us out at www.walksnwags.com , and even consider linking us to your web site as a Pet First Aid resource. Our Pet First Aid courses train both dog and cat lovers. We are the longest-standing program in Canada and offer our courses at various mobile locations. We are also more then willing to travel to your location to offer your group a custom Pet First Aid course.

Sincerely,

Lisa

Gearing up for Fall

I can't believe summer is coming to a close...

At the same time, I really look forward to the Fall. September is a time when our local dog walking company accepts new doggy friends for walks and we also start registering participants for our Fall Pet First Aid classes.

We have recently expanded to teach Pet First Aid in Pitt Meadows, Richmond, and Victoria BC. I am excited to work in these new venues and continue to educate people about their pet's health.

In addition, I will be travelling to Edmonton in November to run a course for persons becoming Pet First Aid Instructors. I haven't been to Edmonton for years and look forward to meeting the locals and visiting our current Instructors there.

Check out our web site at http://www.walksnwags.com/firstaiddates.html for current Pet First Aid class dates!

Summer update at Walks 'N' Wags

This summer has started off on an exciting note. We recently participated in the Petnership Project, a local Vancouver animal health and wellness tradeshow. Visit them at: http://www.petnerships.com/

We had a great time at our booth sharing Pet First Aid tips and gave 2 demonstrations in the lecture series. What a fun weekend and an amazing tradeshow it was. We look forward to next year.

Moving ahead, we are going to enjoy a little of this beautiful weather, although our Instructors will be teaching a number of classes this summer. Here are a few of the upcoming dates:

Toronto, ON: July 25th - all day
West Vancouver, BC: July 24/25
Calgary, AB: August 28/29

In the Fall the classes really get going again. In the meantime, if anyone wishes to get cracking on the Pet First Aid program we do offer a comprehensive Distance Learning program. Visit http://www.walksnwags.com/firstaid.htm for more info.

Happy Summer!

Walks 'N' Wags Pet First Aid, April update

This month I have been working with Veterinarians in BC, Saskatchewan, and Ontario reviewing our manual and it's contents. It has been so interesting hearing perspectives of Pet First Aid and care from different Canadian regions. I also enjoy meeting people I might not have otherwise when undertaking audits like this one.

We are also busy prepping for our next Pet First Aid course here in Vancouver on May 30 at It's Still a Dog's Life. Also planning for the Petnership Trade Show that we are offering a presentation for in June. The variety in my job keeps me constantly satisfied as I am always doing something different.

Check us out at www.walksnwags.com if you haven't already!

Walks 'N' Wags Pet First Aid, first blog

Today marks my first day as a blogger...I'm finally in the 21st century.

2010 has been an exciting year for Walks 'N' Wags. On March 20th, we celebrated our 10 year anniversary of business. It's hard to believe that 10 years ago I sat, waiting by the phone for it to ring. Now, it almost never rings since everyone uses email!

This past year in particular has been exciting as I have had more time to spend on the Pet First Aid program. I have had the awesome opportunity to travel to Alberta to teach the Alberta Association of Enforcement Officers, and had the great opportunity to present 2 Pet First Aid seminars at the Canwest Vancouver Pet Expo. I also travelled to Calgary to train a number of new Instructors there.

I love my job. I meet great people, who I like to think of as a different breed of pet owner. These people are the ones who go above and beyond to make sure that they do the best by their pets. I am honoured every time someone signs up for one of our courses.

Here's to another 10 years!
